Started at Nock & Kirby's after a few weeks, as cashier -doing wages. Then learned all the jobs in the office for 4 years and left to have first child. When I had two babies, went back to work ( Needed as husband became addicted to poker machines and alcohol). I became manager of a major credit union. I also worked for a shipping-related company and became administrator. I have diversified to masseur - sport, shiatsu, etc..
Answer to: 12. Accord with expectations. Treatment.
Enough money earned. We went camping and travelled the area. Made friends. Australians were nice and helpful but critical, at times - not wanting to understand our English. Dutch people were friends when we had nothing. But some became jealous when we started to build our house. Some stayed with us until today. Australians were always friends, as well as other nationalities. I enjoy that.

| * In his book, The Dutch In Australia, the author, Dr Edward Duyker, has a chapter which he called: 'If I must boast....' and in it he writes about the good things that quite a few Dutch-born people have done for the Australian arts and economy. Hopefully, here, we can list some more good things....if we may boast. |
